1. You don’t owe the world “pretty.” You have more – so much more – to offer than simply being something to look at.
  2. Friendships will grow and change and evolve. Let them.
  3. Failure is awesome. It may not feel it at the time, but I promise you, one day you will look back at it and see that it taught you something. At the very least, it means that you are trying and taking risks, and that is a beautiful thing.
  4. You have to ask for what you want. Ask questions, ask for help, ask to be heard.
  5. No is a full sentence. Period.
  6. Kindness matters. It matters more than how you look, what kind of grades you get and what parties you get invited to.
  7. Your happiness is vital. Do things that make you happy and make you feel good. Make it a priority.
  8. Taking time for yourself isn’t selfish. Go on a road trip, have a bubble bath, turn off your cell phone (really!) for an hour, just BE. It’s good for the soul.
  9. You are going to screw up and make mistakes. You are supposed to. Just don’t let your past mistakes define you. You can always start over, so forgive yourself.
  10. Sincere apologies go a long way. Don’t let another day go by without making amends with someone. Write a note or do it face to face. Just make sure it’s from the heart.
  11. You are good enough. Right now, exactly how you are, without changing a thing.
  12. The things that make you unique, even if you think they are weird or wrong or embarrassing, are totally beautiful. Embrace them and rock them!
  13. A boy who is worth your time and love will never pressure you into doing something you are uncomfortable doing. Wait for someone who respects your body mind and soul. (And doesn’t ask for nude selfies!)
  14. Nothing good ever comes from comparing yourself to others. Instead, focus on being the best version of yourself you can be.
  15. You really can change the world. By dreaming big, by standing up for someone, by supporting a cause, by getting involved, and most importantly by being kind.
