In 2004, Kate Whitfield walked into her first school with a simple mission: Create a Kinder Girl World.
What she found was a generation of girls navigating something adults hadn't fully named yet: the intersection of social media, comparison culture, and a mental health crisis that was quietly accelerating. Kate didn't wait for someone else to solve it. She started building, and officially launched FearlesslyGiRL in 2011.
Over the next 15 years, FearlesslyGiRL grew from grassroots school programming into a globally recognized movement. Kate partnered with Nike, Dove, HBO, Instagram, and Evian. She hosted the world's largest anti-bullying assembly, reaching 17,600 girls across 17 states. She created Kinder Girl World Day, celebrated by 171 million people worldwide. She was named an Exemplary Canadian by the Prime Minister's Office and featured in The New York Times, Forbes, Vogue, and The Today Show.

The data got harder to look away from.
57% of teen girls now report feeling persistently sad or hopeless. 1 in 3 have seriously considered suicide — up nearly 60% in a decade. 75% have experienced social exclusion or friendship struggles.
Meanwhile, schools are stretched thinner than ever. Counselor shortages are worsening. SEL programming exists on paper but lacks the staff to deliver it. The mental health crisis is growing, and the resources to meet it are shrinking.
Kate had spent 15 years proving that peer-led, structured programming could change this. The missing piece wasn't the model, it was the funding.

Kate Whitfield is the founder of FearlesslyGiRL, a speaker, girls empowerment expert, kindness advocate and the author of Creating A Kinder Girl World (Spring 2026). For 15 years she has been one of North America's leading voices on girls' empowerment, adolescent wellbeing, and school culture transformation.
She has advised the Prime Minister of Canada directly on issues affecting young women, spoken at schools and conferences across North America, and built a movement that reaches millions — not through viral moments, but through the slow, meaningful work of showing up for girls year after year.

FearlesslyGiRL has designated March 11th as Kinder Girl World Day to put a stop to toxic behavior among girls, and replace it with kindness and positivity!
Tracking the official hashtag #KinderGirlWorldDay, we had a total media reach of 171 MILLION, including thousands of posts of kindness across 20 different countries!
Athletes, influencers and organizations who participated included: Madison Keys, Serena Williams, Billie Jean King, Lindsey Vonn, Mikaela Shiffrin, Sloane Stephens, Kevin Anderson, Julie Foudy, The US Olympic Committee, Girls Inc, Women’s Sports Foundation, US Women’s Soccer, US Synchronized Swimming, US Ski and Snowboard, US Figure Skating, Volvo, Evian, Ultimate Software and others.
FG x HBO
We were so excited to co-host a FearlesslyGiRL Summit with HBO to promote Lindsey Vonn's documentary, The Final Season on HBO.
We invited girls to the Griffin Club in Los Angeles to target the unique challenges girls face and provide them with the tools and confidence to create a kinder, more supportive girl world. Girls participated in group discussions and activities wit Kate and Lindsay all designed to boost self-esteem and create a sense of sisterhood and support.
The biggest anti bullying assembly ever!
In 2018, FearlesslyGiRL partnered with Nike and Instagram to host the world's largest anti-bullying assembly EVER at Augusta College in Rock Island, IL.
Co-hosted by Kate Whitfield and Madison Keys the live assembly reached over 17,600 girls across 17 states and provinces. You can watch the full assembly by clicking here.
FG x Dove Rally
Our largest in-person event was held in 2018 where we invited 1000 girls to the Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf Iowa. Hosted by Kate Whitfield the event included tennis player Madison Keys, self-esteem educator Dre Brown and bestselling author and athlete Amy Purdy.
The Rally was streamed by 43 schools across North America reaching over 3,000 girls. We created a Dove x FG Action Kit filled with an entire week of school-wide activities leading up to the Rally.

FG x Evian at the US Open
We invited 100 girls from across NYC to participate in our Summit at the US open in partnership with Evian's Live Young campaign. The event included a panel discussion hosted by Kate Whitfield with special guests Madison Keys & wellness influencer Sophia Roe, along with group activities and discussions.
FG x GoNoodle
At the end of 2019 we partnered with GoNoodle creating a week long Action Kit full of self-esteem, kindness and movement activities and a school summit tour across NYC, reaching over 12,000 girls in 447 schools in celebration of World Kindness Day.
