10 Confidence Activities That Bring Out Your Inner Leader

for educators for girls empowerment leaders Apr 25, 2025

Because leadership isn’t just for the loudest voice in the room—it’s for every girl who dares to believe in herself.

Here’s the truth: leadership doesn’t look just one way. It’s not always about speaking on a stage or being the team captain. Leadership can be quiet and powerful, bold and thoughtful, creative and kind. And it all starts with one thing—confidence.

When girls believe in themselves, they begin to lead. They speak up, take initiative, own their ideas, and inspire others—not by being perfect, but by being real. That’s why weaving leadership into your confidence-building work is so powerful. You’re not just helping girls feel strong—you’re helping them become strong role models for others, too.

These activities are designed to bring out each girl's unique leadership style, voice, and courage.

đź’ˇ Key Takeaways

  • Confidence is the foundation of authentic leadership

  • Leadership can be nurtured through intentional, low-pressure activities

  • Girls lead best when they understand their strengths, voice, and values

  • Group-based challenges help girls step into leadership in supportive ways

1. My Leadership Superpower

Have girls reflect on their natural leadership strengths—listening, encouraging others, speaking up, organizing, creating, etc. Then decorate “superpower cards” with their chosen qualities and how they use them.

2. Stand Up, Speak Up Circle

Go around the group and let each girl share one thing she believes in, one thing she’s passionate about, or one change she’d like to see in the world. Speaking truth builds confidence and connection.

3. The “Try Something New” Challenge

Girls choose one small action that stretches their comfort zone for the week—raising their hand in class, leading a group activity, or asking a question. Celebrate the effort, not just the result.

4. Group Leadership Roles

During your sessions or group time, assign rotating leadership roles:

  • Timekeeper

  • Encouragement Leader

  • Note Taker

  • Group Greeter
Let each girl experience being “in charge” in a way that feels empowering.

5. Leadership Values Sort

Give girls a list of values (like kindness, courage, creativity, fairness, etc.) and have them choose their top 5. Then ask:

  • How do these values show up in your life?

  • How do they shape the way you lead?

6. “Pitch Your Passion” Mini Presentation

Invite girls to give a short talk (2–3 minutes) about something they care about—an issue, a goal, a personal story. Public speaking becomes less scary when it’s heart-led.

7. Leadership Scenario Roleplay

Set up scenarios where girls can roleplay leadership choices:

  • A group project with clashing opinions

  • A friend being left out

  • Starting a school club
Talk through how they’d handle it, then reflect together.

8. “Yes I Can” Vision Board

Have girls create a board filled with leadership dreams, role models, words of confidence, and actions they want to take in the world. Include the prompt: What kind of leader do I want to be?

9. Create a Team Cheer or Mantra

Let your group create its own empowering cheer or mantra to say together before projects or presentations. It builds unity, confidence, and belonging.

10. Celebrate “Leading From Within”

Close with a discussion or journaling prompt:

  • How have I led this week without even realizing it?

  • What does it mean to lead with kindness and courage?
This helps girls recognize everyday leadership moments that matter.
