10 Group Activities for Teen Girls That Build Confidence & Leadership Skills
Apr 20, 2025
Connection, Courage, and Community—One Circle at a Time
Teen girls are natural leaders. But between the pressure to fit in, the fear of judgment, and the constant comparison of social media, it’s easy for their confidence to dim.
That’s where intentional group experiences come in.
When girls are given space to explore their strengths, take up space, speak up, and support one another—they rise.Together.
Whether you’re leading a school group, youth circle, mentorship program, or summer camp, these activities are designed to help girls develop confidence and leadership from the inside out—in a way that’s fun, meaningful, and totally age-appropriate.
đź’ˇ Key Takeaways
-
Group activities are powerful for practicing leadership in a safe, supportive space
-
Confidence grows through connection, reflection, and real responsibility

These activities work well in classrooms, clubs, retreats, or coaching groups
-
The goal isn’t “perfect leaders”—it’s authentic, growing girls who know their worth
👯♀️ Confidence & Leadership-Building Group Activities
1. Group Mantra Creation
Have the group co-create a mantra they’ll say at the start or end of each session. (Examples: “We lead with courage and kindness.” or “We are strong, we are enough, we are unstoppable.”)
Let girls vote on their favorite line or combine ideas into something they all believe in.
2. Leadership Roles Circle
Give each girl a leadership role during a session—timekeeper, affirmation reader, journal prompt sharer, kindness captain, etc. Rotate weekly so everyone gets to lead in different ways.
It helps girls realize that everyone leads differently—and all leadership styles matter.
3. Brave Talk Roundtables
Break into small groups and give each one a leadership-related prompt like:
-
What makes a good leader (in real life)?
-
When have you had to lead even when it felt scary?
-
What stops girls from speaking up—and how can we change that?
Invite a rep from each group to share their biggest takeaway.
4. Scenario Role Play: Stand Up, Speak Up
Give girls real-world “what would you do?” leadership scenarios, such as:
-
A group project where no one’s listening
-
A teammate who feels left out
-
A friend being bullied online
Let girls role-play how they’d lead with empathy, strength, or problem-solving—and then reflect on what felt easy, hard, or surprising.
5. Confidence Charades
Put leadership traits (e.g., brave, creative, empathetic, honest, determined) into a hat. Girls take turns acting them out while the group guesses. Then reflect on: How do we show this trait in real life?
This one’s fun, silly, and super effective for naming and owning strengths.
6. Compliment Circle: Leadership Edition
Each girl says something kind or affirming about the leadership qualities she sees in the girl to her left.
“I admire how you speak up in group discussions.”
“You make people feel included—that’s powerful leadership.”
This builds confidence and connection.
7. Personal Leadership Shields
Girls draw a shield and divide it into four sections:
-
My values
-
My strengths
-
A time I led
-
How I want to grow as a leader
These make great visual reminders of who they are—and who they’re becoming.
8. The Brave Challenge Board
Create a group board (paper or digital) where girls post brave goals like:
-
“Lead the next discussion.”
-
“Try something new and report back.”
-
“Speak up for someone else.”
Check in weekly to celebrate each step, no matter how small.
9. Team Kindness Mission
Let the group choose a kindness or service mission to plan and lead together:
-
Create affirmation cards for younger girls
-
Run a gratitude campaign at school
-
Organize a kindness day or anti-bullying event
Leadership becomes real when it turns into action.
10. Confidence “Hot Seat” (With a Twist)
Each girl takes a turn in the “hot seat” while the rest of the group shares things they admire about her leadership, kindness, or growth.
No pressure to respond—just receive.
It’s emotional. It’s powerful. And girls leave glowing.
Bonus: Let Girls Lead a Full Session
Challenge the group to co-lead a session or workshop for younger students. They choose the topic, plan the flow, and guide the activities—with your support.
It’s the ultimate way to put leadership into action.
