Help Girls Build Kindness, Confidence & Connection—One Activity at a Time

Let’s be real—friendship is everything in a girl’s world. It can be the source of joy, belonging, laughter... and sometimes, confusion or heartache too. That’s why creating space to explore friendship in a healthy, empowering way is so important. When girls learn how to be a good friend, set boundaries, speak kindly, and celebrate each other, everyone wins.

Whether you’re leading a girls’ group, teaching a social-emotional learning class, or mentoring one-on-one, these fun friendship activities will help girls build connection, confidence, and compassion—with others and themselves. No drama, just real talk and real fun.

1. Friendship Charades
Write down positive friendship scenarios like “including someone who’s left out,” “giving a compliment,” or “asking to play.” Girls act them out while the group guesses. This playful activity helps normalize healthy behavior in a low-pressure, laughter-filled way.

2. Compliment Constellations
Each girl tapes a paper star to her back. The group walks around writing anonymous compliments on each other’s stars. At the end, girls remove their stars and read the kind words they received. It’s powerful to see in writing how much others notice and value them.

3. What Makes a Real Friend? Collage
Break into small groups and give each one poster board, magazines, scissors, and markers. Have them create a collage that answers: “What does a real friend do and say?” Share and hang them up! This sparks conversation and gives girls a clear vision of positive friendship.

4. Friendship Truth or Dare (The Kind Version!)
Instead of embarrassing dares, use uplifting ones like “Give someone a genuine compliment,” “Share a time a friend made your day,” or “Say 3 things you love about yourself.” This game is a hit and always brings the giggles and good vibes.

5. “Friendship Freeze” Drama Skits
Have girls work in small groups to act out common friendship challenges—like gossip, being excluded, or handling hurt feelings. At a key moment, yell “freeze!” and ask the group how they could shift the scene into a kind, confident response. This builds empathy and problem-solving skills.

6. The Compliment Circle
In a circle, each girl gives a heartfelt compliment to the person on her right. You can make it themed, like “a strength I admire in you” or “something I’ve noticed lately.” This one never gets old—every girl leaves feeling seen and uplifted.

7. Friendship Superpower Cards
Have each girl decorate a card with a “friendship superpower” they bring to their relationships—like loyalty, kindness, honesty, or humor. Then they share it with the group and explain how they use it. These cards become keepsakes and confidence boosts!

8. Real Friends Reflection Journaling
Give girls time to reflect on real friendship with prompts like:
What do I need in a friendship to feel safe and supported?
What kind of friend do I want to be?
Have I ever felt left out—and what helped me feel better?
Journaling lets girls process quietly and opens the door to deeper conversations.
