How to Lead a Confidence-Boosting Workshop for Girls This IWD

for educators for girls empowerment leaders Feb 17, 2025

International Women’s Day (IWD) is the perfect opportunity to empower girls and young women by helping them build confidence and embrace their strengths. Confidence isn’t just about feeling good—it’s about having the courage to speak up, take action, and step into leadership roles. One of the most impactful ways to foster this is through a Be Bold & Fearless Confidence Workshop. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to run this transformative session and why confidence-building is so crucial for girls today.

Why Confidence-Building Matters for Girls

  • Self-Esteem Crisis: Studies show that girls’ self-esteem drops by 30% between the ages of 8 and 14.

  • Fear of Failure: 70% of girls report feeling they’re not good enough in at least one area of their lives.

  • Impact on Leadership: Women are significantly underrepresented in leadership roles, and low confidence plays a major role in this gap.

  • Confidence Over Competence: Research shows that confidence is just as important as ability in achieving success—yet many girls hold back due to self-doubt.

By leading a Be Bold & Fearless Confidence Workshop, you’ll be equipping girls with the tools to challenge self-doubt, develop resilience, and step into their full potential.

Step-by-Step Guide to Running a Confidence Workshop

1. Create a Safe & Supportive Space

Before diving in, set the tone by:

  • Encouraging open and judgment-free conversations.

  • Creating a welcoming environment with affirmations, uplifting quotes, and inspiring music.

  • Establishing ground rules: respect, participation, and positivity.

2. Icebreaker: “Who Inspires You?”

  • Ask participants to share a woman they admire and why.

  • Discuss how confidence played a role in their success.

3. Debunking Confidence Myths

Many girls believe confidence is something you either have or don’t. Bust these myths:

  • Myth: Confidence means being loud and outgoing.

  • Truth: Confidence is about believing in yourself, even in quiet moments.

  • Myth: Confident people never feel insecure.

  • Truth: Everyone experiences doubt, but confident people take action anyway.

4. Self-Talk & Fearless Reframing Activity

  • Hand out worksheets listing common negative self-talk statements.

  • Have participants reframe them into empowering beliefs. Example:

    • “I’m not good enough”“I am learning, growing, and capable.”

  • Encourage girls to write and decorate their favorite affirmation on a card to keep.

5. Power Poses & Mirror Affirmations

  • Teach the Power Pose (standing tall, hands on hips) to instantly boost confidence.

  • Have participants look in a mirror and say an I Am statement (e.g., “I am strong. I am fearless.”)

  • Discuss how body language influences self-belief.

6. Facing Fears & Taking Bold Action

  • Ask: What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to do but fear has held you back?

  • Have each participant write a bold action step they will take this month.

  • Encourage sharing and support from the group.

7. Wrap-Up & Group Affirmation

End the workshop with a collective affirmation:

“I am bold. I am fearless. I am ready to step into my power.”
