1. Vision Board Party
A vision board party is more than just cutting and gluing—it’s a creative, hands-on way to help girls visualize their dreams, values, and goals.
Gather a mix of magazines, newspapers, and printed images that represent different interests and aspirations. Provide scissors, glue sticks, and poster boards for each girl. As they work on their boards, invite them to share what they’re creating and why.
This activity helps girls imagine a future full of possibilities while supporting one another in a fun and encouraging space.
Coach Tip: End with a gallery walk where girls can (if they want to) explain a few highlights from their boards.
2. Empowerment Circle
Create a safe and supportive circle where girls take turns sharing their strengths, recent accomplishments, and future goals.
This type of sharing not only builds self-confidence, it also strengthens peer support. When girls hear each other speak with honesty and pride, they are reminded that they are not alone in their journey.
You can guide the circle with prompts like:
-
One thing I’m proud of is...
-
A goal I’m working toward is...
-
A strength I want to grow is...
Coach Tip: Begin with a short grounding exercise or breathing moment to help everyone feel calm and focused.
3. The Compliment Jar
Place a jar or box in the center of the room and give each girl several slips of paper. Ask them to write kind, uplifting compliments about others in the group. These can be anonymous or signed, depending on what feels right.
At the end of the activity, pass out each girl's compliments for her to read.
This simple activity is a powerful way to build self-esteem, kindness, and community spirit. Girls often save these notes and revisit them on tough days.
Coach Tip: Consider turning this into a weekly or monthly ritual to keep the positivity flowing.
4. Role Model Presentations
Ask girls to research a female role model who inspires them. This could be a well-known activist, athlete, author, scientist, artist, or even someone personal like a teacher or family member.
They can create a mini-presentation with key facts, quotes, or a creative project like a poster or slideshow. After sharing, discuss what traits made their role model impactful and how they can embody those qualities too.
Why it matters: This activity shows girls that there are many ways to lead, succeed, and make a difference.
5. Affirmation Art
Hand out canvas boards, construction paper, or watercolor sheets and invite girls to write or paint empowering affirmations in bold, bright colors.
Phrases like:
-
I am enough
-
I am powerful
-
I am learning and growing
-
I can do hard things
This creative time gives girls a chance to explore self-expression while anchoring themselves in positive self-talk.
Coach Tip: Create a calming space with music and art supplies, and encourage girls to display their finished art at home or in their journal.
6. Confidence-Boosting Charades
Give this classic game a fearless twist. Prepare slips of paper with empowering situations to act out, such as:
-
Giving a speech to the class
-
Winning a race
-
Comforting a friend
-
Asking a tough question
Girls take turns acting out the scenarios while the group guesses. Afterward, reflect on how those situations might feel in real life.
Why it works: This activity builds confidence through play, and helps girls visualize themselves stepping into brave, real-life moments.
7. Community Service Projects
Choose a simple, meaningful project that allows your group to give back together. Ideas include:
-
Writing kindness cards for seniors or hospital staff
-
Creating care packages
-
Volunteering at a local shelter
-
Organizing a school supplies drive
When girls contribute to something bigger than themselves, they begin to understand the impact of their choices and actions.
Coach Tip: Let the girls brainstorm and vote on a project. Giving them ownership builds leadership skills and motivation.
8. Personal Growth Journals
Provide each girl with a journal to use throughout your program. Journals can include prompts, free-writing, drawings, and reflections.
Some simple prompts to start with:
-
Today I felt proud when...
-
Something I learned about myself is...
-
One way I was kind this week...
Journaling helps girls build emotional awareness, track their growth, and develop a stronger inner voice.
Coach Tip: Use journals for regular reflection moments at the beginning or end of sessions.
9. Empowerment Movie Night
Host a movie night featuring films with strong female leads and empowering themes. A few favorites might include Hidden Figures, Moana, Akeelah and the Bee, or Queen of Katwe.
After the movie, guide a short discussion with questions like:
-
What did you admire about the main character?
-
What challenges did she face, and how did she overcome them?
-
What did you take away from her story?
Movies can be a fun and powerful way to spark important conversations.
10. The Gratitude Circle
Wrap up your program, session, or day with a gratitude circle. Invite each girl to share one thing she’s grateful for, big or small.
Gratitude helps shift the focus from stress to strength and builds an appreciation for the present moment. It also helps girls recognize the support around them.
You can keep it short or expand into a journaling prompt or group reflection.
Coach Tip: Try using a talking piece like a small stone or heart that girls pass around to create a calm, focused space.
