10 Summer Program Ideas to Empower Girls and Grow Your Impact

for educators for girls empowerment leaders for parents Jun 21, 2025

Summer is the perfect time to say yes to that little nudge you’ve been feeling - the one that’s calling you to lead, support, and empower the next generation of girls.

Whether you’re a teacher on break, a coach in the making, a youth mentor, or just someone who wants to create something meaningful, summer offers a beautiful opportunity to start small, make a difference, and yes,  even earn some income doing work that lights you up.

Below, I’m sharing 10 creative, purposeful, and totally doable summer program ideas you can run in your community (or online!) to help girls build confidence, self-love, leadership skills, and deeper connections.

These are the same kinds of programs I’ve supported women around the world to launch and I’m so excited to share them with you.

1. DIY Girls Empowerment Camp (1–3 Days)

Hosting your own mini girls empowerment camp is such a powerful way to start. Whether you choose one full day or break it up over two or three days, the possibilities are endless. Each day can focus on a different theme — like confidence, courage, kindness, leadership, or self-love.

You might start the day with a journaling session, then move into team-building games, group discussions, and creative projects like a vision board or bracelet-making activity tied to the day’s theme. Add snacks, music, and a few simple rituals like intention-setting or reflection circles, and you’ve got something girls will remember forever.

This is especially great for small community groups, school break programming, or anyone wanting to test the waters before launching longer-term programs.

2. Mom & Daughter Connection Circle

There’s something really magical about bringing moms and daughters together in an intentional space. In this type of program, your role is to guide gentle, heart-opening conversations between them, offer partner activities like journaling or affirmation writing, and help strengthen the bond they share.

You can run a one-time event (perfect for Mother’s Day or summer break!) or create a multi-session experience where each week focuses on a different theme — like communication, trust, shared values, or celebration.

Add cozy touches like soft music, tea, candles, or blankets to create a nurturing environment. You can even include a photo booth corner or DIY keepsake project to make the experience even more memorable.

3. Back-to-School Confidence Workshop

August is the perfect time to host a back-to-school confidence reset. This can be a short 90-minute workshop, a half-day retreat, or even a virtual session. The goal? To help girls feel centered, confident, and calm as they head into a new school year.

Start with a grounding activity like a meditation or breathwork exercise, then lead them through reflective journaling — focusing on how they want to feel this school year. You might include an “I Am” affirmation craft, a confidence-building challenge, or a circle of encouragement where each girl shares something she's proud of.

This type of event helps ease school-related anxiety and can set the tone for a more positive school year ahead.

4. Weekly Summer Group Coaching Series

If you’re looking to create a deeper, more transformational experience over time, a weekly coaching circle is a fantastic option. You’ll meet with the same group of girls each week, guiding them through themes like self-worth, friendships, boundaries, body image, goal setting, or leadership.

Each session might include a short teaching or story, a journaling prompt, a group discussion, and a mini challenge to take into the week. These sessions build trust, confidence, and connection — not just between you and the girls, but among the girls themselves.

This is a great stepping stone into becoming a youth coach or launching a longer-term program or membership.

5. One-Day Girls Leadership Summit

Want to go big? Host a one-day leadership summit for girls in your community. You can include keynote-style workshops, breakout circles, creative activities, and guest speakers or mentors. Include themes like leading with kindness, standing up for others, using your voice, or creating positive change.

Add interactive elements like leadership pledges, intention-setting cards, or a group mural project where girls contribute their own “I am a leader because…” statements.

It’s a great opportunity to partner with schools, local businesses, or community centers and create something high-impact and highly shareable. Think: social media buzz, press coverage, and visibility for your brand.

6. Pop-Up Self-Esteem Workshop at a Library or Studio

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the most powerful. A pop-up workshop at your local library, art studio, or yoga space is a great way to create community connection without overcommitting.

In a 60–90 minute session, you could guide girls through a journaling activity around identity or self-worth, lead a discussion on positive self-talk, or facilitate a craft project like DIY affirmation jars or “I Am” collage boards.

This is ideal for first-time leaders or those looking to expand their reach through partnerships with existing spaces. It’s low-cost, easy to market, and incredibly fulfilling.

7. Teen Vision Board & Goal Setting Workshop

This is always a favorite — and for good reason. Girls love tapping into their creativity while dreaming big. You can make this a chill one-day session with music, snacks, magazines, and markers, or run it as a guided visualization + workshop combo.

Start with future-self journaling: Who do they want to become? What’s one bold goal for the year? Then shift into creating physical or digital vision boards that reflect their inner desires and strengths. Close with a short sharing circle or a “take one small step this week” goal.

This is perfect for summer break, back-to-school season, or anytime girls need a reminder that their dreams matter.

8. Body Positivity & Self-Love Series

Run a 2- to 4-week series focused on helping girls build a positive relationship with themselves and their bodies. Each session can focus on a different aspect of self-love — from recognizing internal strengths, to reframing negative thoughts, to understanding how media and social messages impact how we see ourselves.

You might include mirror work, empowerment playlists, “love letter to myself” journaling prompts, and body gratitude exercises. Keep the vibe uplifting and inclusive, and give girls permission to rewrite the story they’ve been told about who they need to be.

This kind of series creates a safe, healing space — and often becomes a launching pad for deeper confidence and self-expression.

9. Create Digital Empowerment Products to Sell Online

If you’re more of a creator or prefer to work behind the scenes, you can still empower girls and generate income by creating digital products. Think:

  • Printable journals

  • Confidence-building card decks

  • Empowerment challenges

  • Guided audios or visualization scripts

  • Done-for-you workshop bundles for parents or educators

You can sell them on platforms like Etsy, Gumroad, or your own site. They’re affordable to create, easy to promote on Pinterest or Instagram, and help you reach people beyond your local area. Perfect if you want to scale your impact passively.

10. Run an Online Summer Empowerment Circle

Want to keep things flexible and remote? Host a virtual empowerment circle via Zoom. You can run this weekly for 4–6 weeks with a small group of girls and guide them through themes like identity, confidence, friendships, or courage.

Each session can include a mix of guided journaling, breakout discussions, challenges, and simple rituals to create a sense of consistency and connection. Girls love the safe, cozy feel of these circles — and you’ll love the flexibility to work from anywhere.

This is a great option if you’re traveling this summer, have a digital audience, or want to build a global girls community.
